“The police are not here to create disorder, they’re here to preserve disorder.”

~Richard J. Daley

Hmmmmm . . . . . Actually, since absolute freedom is pretty much pure anarchy, then maybe Chicago Mayor Daley was closer to the truth than it might first appear — at least for this country, you know, “land of the free and home of the brave and all.”

Freedom is disorderly, because everyone is at liberty to pursue their own lives and happinesses. In the United States nobody is supposed to be forced to march in lock step with everyone else. We have Country Music and Rap. We have Figure Skating and NASCAR. We have Comic Books and Romance Novels. We have Tofu and Buffalo Wings. We have blue jeans and three piece suits. We have PBS and Spike TV. We have CEOs and the AFL-CIO. We have Apple, Windows and Android. We have MSNBC and Fox News. We have Fraternities and Chess Clubs. We have the NRA and the ACLU. We have Catholics and Atheists. We have Provo and Berkeley. We have New York and Texas. We have Democrats and Republicans. So our society, at times, can and often does resemble that great American pastime: herding cats. And sometimes that gets a little “disorderly.”

So the the question is: Are the police in this country here to restrict and oppress Citizen liberty or to help preserve our freedoms — or, as Mayor Daley put it, “to preserve disorder?”

I don’t know if that is really what he meant, but I kind of like it and maybe its true.

Project Mojo Video – Now Never Nowhere (Redux)

Thank God I saved my old Acer laptop.

I went to re-output this old video in HD and found that I had made it so long ago (and on Windows Movie Maker, no less) that the old project files would not play nice with Windows 7.

So I was able to recreate the video in Serif MoviePlus x6 using the WMM story board as a guide.
